CHALLENGE

By early 2025, Celo’s documentation had grown to over 250 pages. Though the content was valuable, it was not easy to navigate:

  • Sections overlapped or had repeated information.
  • Pre–L2 material was still mixed in with current guides.
  • The structure wasn’t aligned with the different audiences who relied on the docs.

SOLUTION

We worked with Celo’s team to migrate documentation from Docusaurus to Mintlify using an intent-based structure that made navigation easier for different audiences. The three-week project focused on three core areas:

1. Audit and Clean-up
We removed duplicates, flagged pages for rewriting, and consolidated outdated or overlapping content.

2. Restructuring Around User Needs
Docs were reorganized into six clear sections: About Celo, Build on Celo, Infra Partners, Tooling, Contribute, and Legacy that gives each audience a direct path to what they need.

3. Quality Checks
We verified links, optimized navigation cards, standardized visuals, and tested performance, accessibility, and readability across light/dark modes.

  • Improved navigation and visual design with a consistent sidebar, balanced cards, and predictable page layouts.

I really appreciated their professionalism and clear communication throughout the process- Sophia dew, DevRel Engineering Lead at Celo

Requirements

Celo needed a partner who could audit and reorganize its documentation, remove outdated content, and create a clearer structure that served different developer audiences.

Celo partnered with Hackmamba to overhaul its documentation using an intent-based approach. The migration to Mintlify, removal of clutter, launch of a single quick start with Celo Composer and much more helped cut integration time by 50% and made developer onboarding far smoother.
