CHALLENGE

Flutterwave’s fast-growing API ecosystem created increasing demands on its developer experience (DX) team. The team needed clearer documentation, faster updates, and structured feedback loops as new APIs rolled out. The internal team had technical expertise but lacked the bandwidth to manage frequent content and outreach efforts.

We had technical people in-house but did not have enough bandwidth to create all the content we needed. We were not doing enough outreach. We knew we could do more. -Oluwarotimi Okungbaye, Manager, Enterprise Marketing

SOLUTION

  • Documentation audit: We pinpointed outdated or ambiguous sections, focusing on endpoints that generated frequent questions.
  • Restructuring for developer experience: We introduced a new format that allowed easy navigation, clearer code examples, and direct links to reference guides.
  • Migration to a more efficient platform: We moved the documentation to a faster, analytics-friendly platform to help identify where developers struggled and address issues quickly.
  • Developer-focused content: Over six months, we published 14 articles covering integration tutorials, security best practices, and community highlights.
  • Community engagement: We launched Fintech Evenings which is a interactive session that encouraged open discussions and real-time feedback from developers.

Hackmamba helped us bring developers into the office to get real-time feedback. They also rewrote parts of the documentation, which was a lot of work.

RESULTS

Within six months, we observed measurable improvements in Flutterwave’s developer experience and overall engagement.

  • 10% drop in support requests due to clearer documentation and proactive content.
  • 61.2% positive developer sentiment from early surveys.
  • Improved SEO rankings and discoverability from developer-focused content.
  • Streamlined documentation processes after migrating to a more efficient platform.

We consider Hackmamba a partner. Before we do anything around the developer ecosystem, we discuss it with them first.
